The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) is the umbrella organisation for the UK’s home improvement and RMI sector, working to unite government, industry, and consumer voices to create better, safer, and more sustainable homes.

Established in 1974, the NHIC represents a diverse network of trade associations, manufacturers, accreditation bodies, and installers, serving as the sector’s collective voice to champion policy, standards, and practice across the built environment.

From retrofit and decarbonisation to consumer protection and competence, NHIC leads industry-wide conversations, collaborating with key stakeholders to drive quality and trust in the delivery of home improvement.

Now in its 50th year, NHIC continues to promote innovation, compliance, and collaboration across the sector through thought leadership, strategic working groups, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
